Ayala Land receives global environmental sustainability award
April 4, 2019
Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) recently received the 3G Environmental Sustainability Award 2019 at the 4th Global Good Governance Awards presented by London-based Cambridge IFA, a leading international financial services think-tank. The Global Good Governance Awards, or 3G Awards, celebrate individuals, governments, public and private institutions, and NGOs that make governance and sustainability a strategic priority of their organizations.
ALI was recognized for its efforts to incorporate the concept of environmental protection into its business operations and to impart the best environmental responsibility practices throughout its organization. The company was also cited for utilizing sustainable practices and initiatives that strengthen economic development, social equity and environmental protection.
The 3G Awards promotes good governance and commitment to social welfare by recognizing leadership efforts of individuals, governments, corporations and NGOs in practicing good governance principles; recognizing the implementation of innovative practices, programs and projects that promote good governance, transparency and social responsibility; and motivating governments, corporate, and NGOs to focus on good governance and social responsibility practices.
The awards are based on a proprietary “3G Methodology” developed by Cambridge IFA, which makes use of a score card with five pillars of transparency, social responsibility, sustainability, impact and innovation. In order to maintain the highest standards of integrity, nominations are subject to multiple levels of independent review by a selection committee consisting of eminent personalities drawn from government, industry and the academe.
ALI has received several citations for its sustainability practices, the most recent of which is its inclusion in The RobecoSAM Sustainability Yearbook 2019 – the world’s most comprehensive publication on corporate sustainability. This is the third consecutive year that ALI has been named one of the most sustainable companies worldwide.
Ayala Land has consistently advocated sustainability and environmental conservation in all of its estates and developments through its four focus areas of site resilience, pedestrian mobility and transit connectivity, resource-efficiency, and local economic development. It took its sustainability goals a step further in 2017 by embarking on a significant carbon emissions offsetting program – becoming the first Philippine company to target carbon neutrality by 2022.
